Welcome to ABQ Urban Farm!
Hello, and welcome to the farm!
Located in the near North Valley of Albuquerque on a former neighborhood softball field now plagued with goat heads and tumbleweeds, ABQ Urban Farm is the journey of what can be accomplished with a merely a little bit of work and a lot of imagination.
AUF is currently not much to speak of in the farm department and is more akin to a large kitchen garden. Nonetheless it consists of about 40 tomato plants, 10 eggplants, potatoes, various types of chile, an above ground garden box with carrots, okra, and some assorted greens. All of the plants were grown from seed by me, with exception of a few that my friend gave me that were extras.
A little bit of the background to AUF. The land on which AUF is currently housed is not owned by me, but my neighbor’s brother, who doesn’t intend to do anything with the land for a few years. It was not being used so I asked my neighbors if I could start a garden. Brother okayed a garden and the next week I had organic compost from Soilutions being delivered. I spread it out, mixed it in, bought some drip tubing and viola, AUF was born. Still, it is a rudimentary exposition but it will be fun to grow on the land while I am able.
I have both personal and professional goals that I would like to accomplish, and which I will go into more in depth as we get to know each other. To support that endeavour, I have set up a Patreon page and have established different levels of support. Please consider helping out.
